Yep, we did it. We really, really did it. Right in the middle of the worst economic crisis in a century, we went and did a wild and crazy thing like opening a new family business: "Ostler Artware" (a handthrown stoneware pottery studio). Some think we're crazy fools...some just think we're just crazy. But we're okay with that! What can we say? We both love, love, love pottery. And, well, I figure a girl's gotta cook, so why not cook with some beautiful handmade artwork our kids will fight over someday? That's what I'm talkin' about...

And, if nothing else, we've got people talking. Yep. People in Grantsville are definitely talking! Grantsville is a really small but charming town on the outskirts (and I do mean OUTskirts) of Salt Lake City...think Maybury only Utah-style. People are talking about the California girl who recently married the burly Utah potter, and started some kind of funky art studio in the old abandoned Shrimp Factory Building at the end of Main Street...you know, just past the "Dead Dog Saloon" (and nope, I'm not making that up)... Yep. People are talking. And meanwhile, we're just busy potting. And it's okay if our name is "MUD" for a while...Nice thing is there are lots of nice curious town-folk who like to drop by the studio to see Jim at work at the wheel...and everyone seems to love the pottery (and Jim!). So, hey, if you're ever in Grantsville, just come on by! And maybe you can hit the Dead Dog Saloon on your way out of town, too. Not a bad deal!
